DVD Authoring

Customized Introduction

This is the first thing that you see when you pop in the video. Usually it an animated 15 second clip featuring the name of your film collection. It may be the sun glittering over an open road and a title reading 'Smith's Family Trips".
(e.x. The Smith's Film Days)

Navigation Menu

Like in hollywood DVD's, the navigation menu lets you skip to any section of the movie through the use of the DVD remote control. Right after the customized intro (if included), the DVD will go to the main menu. You will select either play movie, or navigation menu. The navigation menu is where you see frames from the movie and the description and when you click on a particular frame, it will take you to that point in the movie directly. No fast forwarding! If you have any further questions about this just let me know.

DVD Chapters

The chapters are the actual points in the movie that you can jump to (described above). The navigation menu provides for 10 chapters (usually spaced 5-10 minutes apart). If desired, more than 10 chapters can be placed on the navigation menu.

Motion Menus

The navigation menu will include short video clips in place of static pictures when you are in the scene selection menu.

Background Music

The navigation menu will include a customized background music.

Our Film Transfer Page

First, we clean your film reels and get them in the correct order for transfer. We preview the film and if necessary, minor splicing and repairs are done to the film. There is no frosted lens or screens used in our process. Next the projector speed and the camera speed is synchronized to eliminate the roll bar or flutter associated with NTSC video at 30fps.  From the digital camera, we go directly to the media chosen (DVD, VHS...) between this we will adjust and/or correct the color (TBC). Further encoding/rendering and bad spots can be removed and titles, if desired, can be added.

There is no analog video signal involved at this point.  Remember, all analog tape (VHS) filming involves generation loss from start to finish. Video input signals start from a digital, 3CCD chip camera, goes to the PC and returns to a digital recorder if a DVD authoring will be chosen.

Output of the finished Master tape can be to DVD, CD, digital miniDV tape or analog VHS, S-VHS, video 8MM or video HI-8MM tapes. Our basic transfer package includes one final media only.

Why it's Safe

We have taken every precaution to ensure the safety of your precious and irreplaceable home movies. We transfer all of your films and videos in our work location and ship the movies back directly to you, (for free if you’re a Canadian customer; you’ll just pay the shipping to us). Also we provide media (DVD, Videotapes) with it. We keep a digital back up of your movies for 1 month after shipment because of our 30 day warranty. We feel the safety of your movies is the most important aspect of our job. We offer more than just a video to DVD transfer. We start by reviewing your original movie, any correction will be made during this process; the movie will be analyzed with a waveform and a vector-scope controlled by a TBC (Time Base Corrector). Then the transfer to a DVD will be done through our digital Video Processor. We will automatically insert chapter marks into your video; when you're viewing the DVD you can quickly skip scenes without having to watch the whole movie. Finally, you can submit a title for the DVD that we will print directly onto the disk. This is what we call Mastering an analog source. For those who want a basic transfer, our procedure will be the following: play back your media while being controlled by a basic color corrector. The final output will be recorded with a DVD-R disk.
